I was going for a "leading lines" shot for photo club with this shot of the Grapevine Vintage Railroad (Tarantula Train which travels between Grapevine and the stockyards in Fort Worth).
If you have time, please view large and let me know if you think it works for "leading lines". Also, do I leave the power lines in or take them out? And, please be honest.
This shot also meets my get-pushed challenge from Brianna to capture a photo inspired by a favourite quote or song lyric. "I hear that train a comin'".....from Folsom Prison Blues by Johnny Cash.
First, I think this is gorgeous. I love the light and how it reflects off the train. Seems a bit surreal. I personally think it works for leading lines but not an expert there. I like the power lines. I would say to crop the third because it is so close to the edge, but then that only leaves two.
Dilemma Dilemma! I hate power lines with a passion. But I'm not sure they're a real problem here. Your lines on the tracks, train, and lights are real strong so the stupid power lines (excuse me) aren't too much of a distraction and you'd probably expect to find them. I love the train detail and the lights in the train. Love the shot enlarged. Your pick (Great help, I am :) )
I think its a lovely shot, not sure about the leading lines, but I don't think you should take the power lines out I think it makes the photo more interesting.
I think the fact that you have three clear lines (the tracks, the train cars, and the powerlines) taking your eyes in the same direction, clear across the photo from left the right really works well. Plus, the decreasing size of the powerlines adds depth and a perspective of distance to the photo. I like the colors and the reflections in the windows. Very nice!
