Last night, Mum and I went to see Sir James Galway in concert here in Brisbane. His wife, Lady Jane, was there this time to play with him. I took along my first vinyl of his, a book he had written and a photo of when I last met him here when I was 13. Then, it was a big thrill for me; as it is now.
When it came to my turn to talk to him, I said that we had met before and showed him the photograph. He was thrilled I had kept it for so long and thought we looked cute - so did Lady Jane. The last time Sir James was here was in 1986. He played so beautifully then; and his music was just a gorgeous last night.
He did sign my vinyl and the book I took along. I'm so pleased he did as the vinyl was the first one I bought which got me into playing the flute and the book was something Mum found by chance at a market and has helped me in other musical endeavours. Otherwise, it was an absolute thrill to see him again.
Writer, poet, artist and prolific reader.... that's me.
I'm a collector of books, vinyls, coin purses and strange handbags... that's me too.
Otherwise, I love...
@Kate: I play once in a while; but not as often as I used to. I still own the first flute I did when I was young; and never upgraded to a newer one as I didn't feel I needed to and also flutes are so darn expensive, I couldn't afford to. But I do enjoy hearing Sir James play... but it's better live.
@mozette I bought a flute from a family member (Cheap!) about five years ago and had lessons for two years. I love the sound but my shoulder and neck don't like the playing position. I only play for fun!
