Volunteers Morning Tea

Yesterday morning, I was at the Logan Art Gallery for their volunteers morning tea. This was to thank us all for making the gallery work the way it does each year. And why not! We all had fun, and enjoyed ourselves - scoffing into the Christmas goodies! :D

Oh, the guy in the photo is Michael... he works there at the gallery and this is his first full year there. He's had so much fun and laughs with us all and is looking forward to working with us in the future. :D

They also gave out the 5, 10 and 15 year badges for the volunteers who have been here for those years; as they are significant years. Me? I've been working there for 15 years... well and truly a part of the furniture... however, they didn't have me down as as that and so I didn't get my badge this year. I did point it out and they rushed off and had a look on the computer, came back and told me that the man who hired me didn't write down exactly which year I had been hired and only put down 19? and that was it... I asked why they didn't ask me when I started and I would have told them. So, they asked if I could be acknowledged next year and they'd say next year that my time was mis-placed and make sure it was fixed up.

I still think they could have asked me a few months/weeks ago about this if they were in doubt and this wouldn't have happened.

I'm sure they appreciate everyone's help and dedication, and maybe they will throw in a little something extra next year to make up for their mistake this year

@digitalrn I hope they do... and I've noticed that people leave after their 15 years of service there due to them becoming too old to work there. So, I'm going to work there for a full 20 years or so and see how far I can go... I mean, I'm a spring chicken compared to some of the ladies volunteering there. :)
