Plaster Cast Torso Project by mozette

Plaster Cast Torso Project

Today I went to the chemist, the post office and then to the gallery to see when I'm working there this month (I miss-placed my roster).

While there, I found that there was a workshop about to start where they were one person short. So, I jumped in - not knowing what it was about. Well, it was a make-your-own plaster torso! How much fun is this???

Today we did the three layers of plaster into a mould coated with canola oil and left it at the gallery to dry... then on Saturday, we'll tap it out and trim the edges and coat it with varnish and figure out what 3D image we want to put on our individual pieces...

There were 6 others with me in the group - 5 teenaged girls and one other adult - all of them from Boystown (this is a place where kids from rough backgrounds, broken homes and hard situations go to finish their schooling when there's nowhere else for them to go). The girls were great... they were great kids, just had some rough stories to their otherwise happy faces.
Great collage
