Spent time today at two Kingfishers sites, the leaves are definitely coming off and cover is getting less. No success at the first site but managed to see 3 little egrets who are trying to establish their winter territory. Much flapping and croaking.
The second site I saw the Kingfisher, it glided to land on the post when some idiot screamed "Look there is a Kingfisher" at the top of their voice. So I had to make do with this greater Spotted Woodpecker. The piece of brown you can see on its wing is actually off the peanuts. Really pleased with the detail on this one.
