The (old) town hall of Middelharnis In 1639 by Arent van 's Gravesande designed and executed by Pieter Adriaanszn. Noorwits. The building was built in Dutch Classicist style. The pediment is the weapon of Middelharnis. In the building there are three images that symbolize prudence , love and justice .
Next door on right hand side is a walvisrib/ rib bone from the whale that was caught by fishermen from this village. On the left side of the door hang two neck stones . A punishment/penalty of those days
On the tower of the town hall one sees a brass gaff boat. This symbolizes that originally Middelharnis is a fishing town.
