A Western Black-legged Tick, Ixodes pacificus. I guess the theme aspect of this photo is that I hope I don't find one of these feeding on me. Found in the Santa Ana Mountains, use repellent and check for ticks after a hike. This is a potential vector of Lyme disease as well as Anaplasmosis.
