Mount Vernon by rosiekerr

Mount Vernon

We visited Mount Vernon, home of George Washington (First President of the US, Founding Father, etc., etc.). Here is pano of the main house, with outdoor hallways leading to kitchen on the right and servants quarters on the left. It sits up on a hill, overlooking the Potomac River. Tourist season, hence the line/queue waiting to get in.

A fascinating experience. If you find yourself in Washington DC, this is a day trip down the Potomac River.

Thanks for visiting and thanks for treating my "National Cathedral" photo from yesterday so kindly.
Wonderful shot!

Excellent shot, it looks very well manicured. Perhaps I should find out if they'd mind sending some of their staff my way...

@graemestevens OMG, the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association runs this place, so it is manicured to the T. Maybe the Virginia ladies would travel your way?

This looks so immaculate. It would have been interesting learning the history of them.
