Far from the madding crowd

It is far from the main plant growth, I used to have these in my garden, they are very tiny but very pretty flowers!

Popping off the grey.

@aj1268 Yes, grey is often a perfect throw for a lot of colours.

Agree re. the flowers against the grey - very pretty.
Not sure about the interpretation - given Hardy's penchant for crushingly depressing storylines, the flowers all look far too cheerful! ;-)

@dulciknit That's a very good point about Hardy's novels, and I've read most of them so I know it's true, that and the fact that they are full to the brim with coincidences upon coincidences. I still like them though. This is more literal than literary a title you might say. :)

:-D Given the colour of the flowers, you could almost have got away with "Far from the maddering crowd" :)
I don't remember the coincidences, it's been so long since I read any of his novels. The memory of the misery lingers on, however.

@dulciknit They were harsh times when the books were written. I suppose their appeal at the time was that people could relate or knew of someone who was in similar situations. Akin in some ways to listening to the blues and having the sense of something familiar yet also the ability to be removed from it. Anyway, I'm so tired at the moment. I'm heading off to bed.
