Anybody read this book? It is an adventure novel by the Scottish author John Buchan. I’m not sure if it was shown as a film, too. Anyway this staircase reminds me of that book which I read decades ago.
Took the shot in Valletta on the eve of New Year’s Eve when I and Christine went there with Jean-Pierre (my son), his wife, Louise, and their daughter, Michaela.
These steps are as you enter through the ‘Main Gate’ Valletta as redesigned by the world famous architect Renzo Piano, and leads to the top of the Valletta walls. A similar staircase is opposite to it. At the far end of the picture is St. John’s Cavalier an addition to the already massive fortifications of the city.
It rained all day yesterday and today it looks dreary again. I hava a severe cold but can't stand staying inside.
Thank you very much for looking and for all the lovely comments and the fav's on yesterday's picture.
I was supposed to read it at school in 1969/70 but just found that very copy at my mum's house and thought I might read it... if it doesn't fall apart in my hands. I really like the feel of this shot.
Love the way you've captured this Dione. We read the book at school and it has been filmed. If my memory is correct, which it frequently isn't, it was filmed in B&W. I hope you're feeling better.
A great fav. night shot and a beautiful capture of the steps and atmosphere.
Do you (always) use a tripod for you night captures.?
I agree with you , those old war artifacts intrigue me too mostly for the technique that is used
Instant FAV! Love the lighting with the light and shadows!! Just enough light to know what you are looking at and where you are going, but just enough shadows to make it mysterious and spooky!! My kind of photo!!!
