Ratcliffe Power Station long exposure by seanoneill

Ratcliffe Power Station long exposure

An alternative view to my shots from last week, this time taken from Winking Hill Farm so I could capture the lights.

A busy day pulling a project to gether so I can send some sample off to a customer, and clearing a few issues hanging over from last week.

Ben was back at school today.

Much better viewed large.
Really like this - FAV!

Really successful shot - great light bursts but also clear detail, not easy with a night shot.

How do you manage give Radcliffe upon Soar power station such an air of romance? Compositional flair and technical expertise again very evident Sean.

There's something monstrously beautiful about these places, especially at night - this captures that, I think. Certainly comes into its own on large view.
(There used to be an oil refinery on the Isle of Grain in Kent, it was wonderful at night. I wish I'd been into photography when it was still there to photograph! )

@dulciknit Thank you Alison, I know what you mean. I worked at ICI in Runcorn and Billingham in the mid 80s. I wish I had been into photography then!!

Aah, the ones that got away! I bet photographers can tell at least as many tales as anglers. :-D

@dulciknit I see things most days when driving to school or work, and wish I could stop!! Then I see something else and the thought disappears as there isn't enough room in my head!

I know what you mean. There's so many lovely scenes round here that get some gorgeous light but nowhere to stop, it's so frustrating!
