S for Swans

We had another wander around the lakes at Bluewater today. The cygnets are now much bigger and showing signs of turning white. The parents still remain so protective of them. There was so many other birds on the water but it was difficult to get close - wishing I had a good zoom! Of all the people wandering around I did not want to be the one to fall in!
This is a lovely picture! They are getting big indeed!

Lovely collection of water fowl... the one in the center looks to be giving you the “eye”

Smart! ( another S word) to not end up in the lake! Great shot of the swans. The babies look bigger than the parents.

@kvphoto I'm pretty sure that look was cupboard love and he was looking for some food. When he realised I didn't have any he just moved on.

@ingrid01 @kjarn @grammyn @zambianlass @wakelys Thank for your comments. The cygnets were just about as big as the adults. If it wasn't for their brown plumage you'd think they were fully grown. Apparently they're juveniles after about 6 months and adults at about 4 years old. These are 5 months-ish.

Great photo mum! I can just imagine you ringing me saying "I fell in the lake!" I would've laughed so hard!

They must be used to people feeding them.

Lovely shot. After living in Australia for over 30 years it seems strange to see white swans now. Our swans are black.

Nice shot for S 👍

@onewing I don't think I've ever seen a black swan. That would seem very unusual here.

@randystreat Yes definitely. They only wanted food and I went empty handed.
