5-3-11 Meet Me at the Corner of Pike and Pike at 5:30

Pike Place Market, Seattle

Just not feeling it today. More gray skies and just tired. Tried to hit the market on my way to the bus tonight but even that didn't really net me anything so I tried messing around with Picnik and cropping closer than I normally would. Not too unhappy with the results as it certainly has more interest than it did before. Ah well.

Streets in Seattle are not supposed to do this, Pike Place and Pike Street should never cross, but clearly they do. We have some odd street naming things that go on in this city and can make the unexperienced a little crazy. For example NE 45th St and 45th Ave NE do cross each other, they are not the same street so I could also meet you at the corner of 45th and 45th or 50th and 50th for that matter.

Thanks for your well wishes for the boys, one was back in school today, the other still home but both will be back tomorrow, just in time for state testing to begin. They are really excited as I'm sure you can imagine.

I'm going to try riding my bike to work tomorrow, first time this year as May is ride your bike to work month and the weather is beginning to cooperate. If not tomorrow Thursday or Friday for sure, I'll see how I feel and my bike looks in the morning. My goal each year is at least one day per week May through September which I have hit (except for traveling) for the last three years. It's good to have a goal at least.

edit: hefty crop, boost, cross process, film grain and posterize
oh I wish I could meet you there Shannon :-) great picture

For a day when you are not feeling it, this is an excellent shot. Good luck with your bike ride; a month of cycling to work sounds pretty impressive!

Awesome shot, it has a nice "feel" to it!

cool photo, like the editing. I don't think I ever connected that it would make sense for Pike St. and Pike Pl. to cross
May 4th, 2011
It never crossed my mind that Pike and Pine would intersect! Nice shot.
