You are looking at the northern end of the Tulum hotel zone from the vantage poiint of a gigantic mountain of coral that is many stories high. There is a huge coral reef that extends for dozens of miles off the coast here.
The hotel zone has three miles of pristine beach, bordered by an 800,000 acre nature preserve to its south and the Mayan ruins to its north.
The cabanas across the bay are typical of the accommodations in the hotel zone. Each cabana is basically a hut, and they are a bit on the rustic side. Remember, there is no infrastructure here.
We stayed in the nicest cabanas in Tulum, and I will show you a photograph of our place tomorrow.
I like the kind of S pattern that's formed from the hotel area to the rock in the center, to the curl of the foam in the water to the foreground rocks. really gets me to take in the whole scene by drawing my eye around the image

Love this shot; great composition with that sort of zigzag formation of rocks leading to the background of huts/cabins on the foreshore. The texture of the rocks and the clarity of the water is nicely shown, too. Fav. for me.
