"My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends..."
Janis Joplin recorded "Mercedes Benz" on October 1, 1970. It was the last track she ever recorded as she died three days later. The song appeared on the album Pearl, released in 1971.
This was the Mercedes Benz that Janis was singing about - the famous W108, the last of the hand-built S class luxury automobiles - a truly stately motorcar and a major status symbol of its time.

I hope you have enjoyed this classic car series as much as I have enjoyed sharing it with you. There will be plenty more great classic car images to share in the future (I attended a great car show yesterday). But starting tomorrow, I will switch gears and finally begin my New York City series (subtitled "6 hours in Manhattan").
Amazing capture, so detailed I can almost touch it (if permitted). The song I youTubed it has a haunting melody, a beautiful piece about a beautiful piece.
thanks for the info about that song.....now it is stuck in my head all day, i'm sure - - and now i REALLY agree with her sentiments.....I want one now too! - - your color and crop is fabulous!
