More NYE party antics: after the newlywed game ended, we broke out the karaoke machine and sang until 3 am. I love karaoke, even though I doubt any of the other party guests enjoy hearing me. This is a candid of our lovely hostess, Estrella, taken while she was belting out a Donna Summer disco hit from the 70's to perfection. It was quite the fun party!
@simon0128 Thanks, Simon - I like the 35 mm prime - great low light lens and nice dof at f/1.8. Requires more effort than my other lenses as I have to zoom with my feet, but a good prime tends to make you a better photographer.
So fun. I love the idea of kareoke...I am a good singer...but I stink at it. Such a great party thing, though. Maybe I'd be better with a beer in me;-).
@amandalomonaco Amanda, I'm a terrible singer but for some weird reason, I love karaoke. At this party, I sang sober which is really scary - I usually prefer to have a number of drinks in me before I pick up the microphone. I even did two solos, which I never, ever do. Both Rolling Stones songs - Jumping Jack Flash and Tumbling Dice. Got to pretend I was Mick Jagger for 10 minutes! I am pretty sure I sounded awful.
She looks like she means business.
You can probably sing at least as well as Mick Jagger Danny. He sings as bad as I do. I have no idea how the Stones have remained popular for so long?
@skipt07 She does mean business, Skip! That girl can sing. You are very kind but I can't hold a candle to Mick. Sorry you are not a fan, I have been a Stones fan since the late 1960's, have seen them live three times and am in awe of them. Listen to Jagger on Wild Horses, Angie and Sympathy for the Devil - that dude can sing. In fact, I highly recommend that everyone watch the new Stones documentary, Crossfire Hurricane. The most amazing film I have seen in many years - its on HBO.
Wow, Danny, looks fun. I can only ever do Karaoke when I've had a few glasses of wine. I'm told I do a pretty good rendition of a 1950's Working Men's Club singer - I think that is a left-handed compliment... I think ... Anyway, a nice shot.
Great candid Danny, a bit of a departure from your usual style.... I like it! Prime lenses are great for shallow depth of field, I love my 50mm, it's on my camera most of the time......
@jackie8 Thanks, Jackie - as you can see, I am stepping out from my usual style - with this self-inflicted "35 days with my 35mm lens". Hope to step out a bit more in 2013 - but I am also a firm believer in "jack of all trades, master of none". I like having a few subjects, like nature and classic automobiles, that I am good at. Can't be good at everything, photographically-speaking.

I used to love Donna Summer. You sing to your heart's content, Danny.
I got my first prime [50, not 35] on its way in the post ~ I am getting ready to use my focal feet :-)
