I am taking a one day break from the University of Georgia series to show you my favorite capture from a high school track meet I recently attended. I've never photographed a track meet before and I used my 70-300 and a monopod for this image, which amazingly, turned out exactly as I had envisioned it. The title of this image was a 1964 hit song by The Shangri-Las. Best viewed large.
@danette Thanks, Danette. I love the monopod and it is absolutely a joy to carry, take places and use compared to a tripod (I hate tripods - I have one, but I rarely use it). My 70-300 does not have image stabilization and it is impossible to get this sharp an image at 300mm without a monopod.
@rvwalker Thanks, Ross. You are the only 365er to comment re: both her feet being off the ground. That was the one thing in this image that surprised and delighted me. I intended to selectively focus on her but the feet off the ground was the icing on the cake. Thanks for noticing!
