@corinnec you would if you saw them side by side. The hare is about three times the size of a rabbit, has very large black tiped ears and a longer snout. Large powerful back legs and a black tip to its tail.
They also differ in life style generally living on their own or in small groups, they are not burrowers so live above ground. I was lucky that this one came very close as they are usually very timid and will take off at first sight. They are spectacular on the run as they can reach speeds up to 40kmph.
This is actually a European Brown Hare. They are a different species to rabbits and are much bigger.
