I thought it would be fun to have this week's theme be color, in honor of St. Patrick's Day coming up. My son already knows his colors, but it was a great way to go more in depth with them. He learned the colors of the rainbow with a song and several art projects (including the "C", rainbow links with a pot of gold at the end, and a play-doh/pipe cleaner rainbow). We also learned about primary colors and made secondary colors using food coloring. We also concentrated on different shades of the same color with a paint sample/clothes pin activity. I also got the kids a huge box of crayons so they could color with all different shades of colors. My son worked on fine motor skills using tongs to sort different colored poms. He's also really been into cutting with scissors lately, so I had him cut out different shapes in primary colors. Lastly, we had a fun time making a lava lamp out of water, oil, food coloring, and Alka Seltzer. He seems to be getting more and more into the lessons, crafts, and experiments. I really hope he is enjoying them as much as I am teaching them to him!
