Twenty- four hours after leaving home I found myself here, on the West Australian coast looking out over Rottnest Island, watching the Indian Ocean lazily roll ashore on Brighton Beach, Stirling in Perth WA .
Rottnest Island is about 18 kms off the coast and was named by a Dutch sea captain back in 1696 when he mistook the little quokkas ( tiny members of the kangaroo family that live on the island) for rats and consequently named the island rat's nest.
You will need to view on Loarge to see the island on the horizon.
looks wonderful to be there.
