Aussie Backyard Bird Count by ubobohobo

Aussie Backyard Bird Count

To celebrate National Bird Week 2017 "citizen scientists" have been invited to take part in the Aussie Backyard Bird Count this week. For 20 minutes at any particular time in the day you down tools and count birds. What a hard task when you have created a bird friendly environment. To our surprise we even had a Bustard family walk into range and settle down to rest in the shade of the bloodwood tree.
So interesting to read about this. We once participated in a bird count, but the birds had to be tagged because the purpose of the count was to determine where they migrated to. It was a very messy job!

A super capture. We have a similar thing in the UK. We do a garden bird count for one hour on a particular weekend in the year
