Nature's Candle

I had cause to visit the local school on Friday. the cycads that line the pathway up to the door were flowering. Each individual plant is either male or female. This is a male flower.
that is one awesome cone - am a huge fan of cycads - have quite a few in the garden

@annied Yes, it was spectacular Annie. My focus is not as good as it should be to share it's brilliance. It really did shine like a candle.

the "ropes" are pine needles from our local hoop pine trees. You've seen these huge pines on here as our memorial pines planted at the school gate to remember two young local lads killed in action in WW2.
