I really struggled for inspiration today. I knew I didn't want to go outside, because I've done enough of that. I didn't want to take an observational picture, as I thought it was time to experiment. I also didn't want to use my Canon S90, as I've used that every day except for day one. So I thought about what to photograph, and decided that I wanted to experiment with a splashing effect using my Canon EOS 450D.
First I got a cup and filled it with tea. I dropped a small heavy object into it and attempted to take a picture of the splash. It didn't work, and I chipped my favourite cup. Then I tried it again, but with a mug. I smashed it. So I gave up on that and tried something else.
I'm quite happy with this, but I know that with time and more effort I could do it much better. For a start, I wouldn't do it at my sink! However, today's photo was about experimentation, so at least it's different from my previous pictures.
I think I need to keep an notebook with me. That way, if I see something of interest I can take note of what and where it is. I need to start planning ahead so I'm prepared for each day, as I'm already a little anxious about what to photograph tomorrow.

i think this is really good, worth the other failed attempts to get it! you should be really pleased with it! i keep a notebook with me too, so you never forget your ideas! but i also like pictures that are a spur of the moment too!
This is a great picture. Please don't allow this project to make you anxious. Take pleasure in the process and worry less about the results. You will see your work improve inevitably and will discover untapped creativity and artistry within. It has been a revelation to me, and I don't think I'm unusual.
This worked great! I sense that you're very tense, or hard on yourself, about your daily photos. Take some time to look at what others are posting...look at your Home page, and go to the Popular page, under Browse, and you'll see a nice variety of choices. You'll begin to see work by people who inspire you, whom you may have difficulty equaling, and those to whom you feel you could teach something. We run the gambit here. But everyone's got a story, and if you're paying attention to others, you'll learn a lot about people, and this community at large.
What an amazing photo. The brilliant color of the apple, the splashing water and the detail of the water rippling down the side. This is one to print and frame!
