My best friend, soul mate and confidante had some fantastic news today, but she still needs chemotherapy. In a mad fit of solidarity I said I'd keeep her company and lose my hair too. Now, having short hair is a big thing for us, we're both very vain about our locks and we keep GHD and John Frieda in profit.
Next week's selfie I won't be able to hide behind my hair, as it's going (but not shaved- I don't love her that much!) and so far I've raised a couple of hundred quid in sponsorship!!!
Getting braver with selfies- now need to master being in focus! Any tips from the experts please (Vikki and Kalli!)
hahaha! i lauged at "i don't love her that much!" too funny!
for focusing, i put a dummy, anything that stays put (in my case a broken tripod). then click on self shutter, run and throw dummy aside and pose. helps if you have a big mirror, which i don't have so you can at least determine how you set yourself up. bonus if you have a second body (does mr. jackieR indulge you?) to check your framing and press the shutter or better yet get a remote shutter. if you set up you camera to desired settings and let someone press the shutter, it is still a self portrait. also check your lighting. you want to show your best side, and your slim side. if you send me an email (it's in my profile) i will critique before you post. only if you want.
Hey,,a lot to be said about "faceless" portraits...and this is faceless as well as selfless and I mean that as generous...good for you for the support you are giving your friend... @summerfield and thanks for the tips here...on the 2018 list.
@summerfield Yes, he's brilliant at helping me out! Also I was given a remote clicker thingy for Christmas that I need to learn to use so I could face (!!) the camera. Thanks for offer of critique, might take you up on it!! @granagringa thank you, looks like we're both gong to learn about being in the foray of selfies then???
Loving your support to your bestie...I live with Leukaemia and take chemo tablets daily...started to loose hair at the start of my diagnosis 2 years ago but then the hair falling stopped and I went from having nice silky poker dead straight hair to a frizz ball...not happy lol but can't complain about that side effect whilst the drugs keep me alive 😀 Best wishes to your bestie and hope all goes well and it will mean everything to her your support as I'm sure you know as I can't be without my bestie who has been with me every step of the way making my journey a lot easier x
