In Memorium

Back to Dead Men's Copse ,
Three memorials remain,
So sad not cared for.

6.4m / 10km
28.7m / 45.8km
FAV I like the simplicity of this composition

It is indeed sad that some of the memorials have deteriorated and/or disappeared. Placing them in the copse was a lovely way to memorialize those men. Interesting history for the copse itself!

This isn't part of the Falklands Plantation is it? The collage is lovely.

Great shots of those old memory stones. Maybe there are no relatives any more.

I love the comp of this half with the flower. Too bad they can’t repair the one plaque.

Shame those plaques aren't being looked after

Thank you all. We have two little tree "plantations" planted in memory of the fallen only a mile or so apart. This one is in the middle of a private golf club green, technically I think I trespassed to get into it!

Thank you all, I shall return in November with remembrance poppies for each memorial that has been placed there

There is nothing like visiting a cemetery, whether a big one with stones ranging out in rows in all directions, or a small, almost forgotten one like this here, to give one perspective on life and on our daily problems. The phrase, “will it matter in a hundred years” often comes to mind when I am there.
