Look What I Found in my Garden!

Forgotten I'd planted snake's head fritillary bulbs and most surprised to see these yesterday.

Had to stay indoors all day today, so spent the morning on YouTube and as a result I THINK I now understand masks and the selection tool. Practised new skills on this!
Beautiful against the dark background. Well done on the skills AND the garden.

If you masked that, I’d say you did a very nice job....I’m not even sure it wasn’t just shot on black, so that is about as good as it gets, I think. The flower is gorgeous.

Such a different looking bloom, I like the name. You photographed it and (I guess) edited it beautifully.

Well that was a nice find and productive use of your time.

A gorgeous macro, stunning against the black. I love fritillaria, but have never had any luck with them.

Beautiful and so unusual!

Beautiful flower with the speckles and tones. Impressed with your tutorial result!

So well done Jackie. :)

Love the patterns on the flowers pedals. Fantastic work on your editing. That is one of my next thing I should learn.

I understand neither - but I like a good frit

Lovely shot of the bloom. The pattern is very clear. There will be no stopping you now if you're learning about masking and selecting. I think about your output without using those techniques.

These look quite exotic...A lovely flower in your garden...
.I must ring my local nursery to see if they are available here.

Beautiful especially on the black!

@ludwigsdiana used new cropping skills on this ( I know, who knew different ways!
@kjarn tried white didn't work
@happysnaps might be, let me know
@randystreat I bought Affinity and use it for cropping ( new method learnt yesterday!) sharpening etc, and managed layering easily for composting but could NOT get my head around masks. I won't use it too often, too time consuming!
@anniesue there's a whole bank of purple and white ones on one of my walking routes
@dutchothotmailcom this I just cropped, but took it in raw
@robz see I got there in the end, calling it editing not cheating!!!
@taffy taffy I was shattered, it was like being at school in a maths lesson, then I found a remedial class ! Bingo understood it, probs won't use it - bit like algebra!!
@marlboromaam they are! Never had success with them and two have grown!!!
@ljmanning me neither Laura!!
@Dawn in a snakey creepy way they are
@carole_sandford love how they dangle
@365anne bring em in and forget them!! Bet they don't show next year!!!
@tinley23 it was, totally forgot them
@wakelys it was! But processing is so time consuming, I'd rather paint
@theredcamera used a new cropping skill and a bit of exposure change. Taken raw with new macro lens ( and I found out on live view can get really close in and focussed!!)
@shutterbug49 Debbie this isn't masked, it was shot on black and I sorted exposure as shot raw and exposed to the right
@ninaganci thank you Nina
@billyboy they are!!
@monicac thanks
@joansmor when the nod in the breeze they're very pretty
@monikozi very architectural bloom
@grammyn thank you!!

I don't know anything about affinity, but in Photoshop, masking is getting easier for me. It does take practice.
