S is for Surfeit Water

A 400 year old recipe that uses red poppy petals steeped for a milesome (20 minutes) and then herbs and spices are added and it's left in the sun for 9 days, brandy and rose water added, it's filtered and bottled. A teaspoon is taken to relieve indigestion or hangover or when suffereing form a surfeit!!

If you are planning to overindulge soon here is one recipe I found online for you!
That was such an interesting recipe and itโ€™s a great photo!

One does wonder how they came up with these things back in the day!

Beautiful colours and shot. The leaving in the sun bit is likely to make it pretty alcoholic before you add the brandy - sounds like a hair of the dog type remedy.

The lady that made this elixer trained as a medical herbalist and now teaches on the 6 year course herself, she was fascinating to talk with. Thank you for your comments, this is my favourite image of the whole day!!
