Decay 2

David @yrhenwr set me the challenge of showing degredation in detail using an indoor shot of a fading or decaying flower. This is my second attempt
@yrhenwr David, this was a close as the camera would let me go whilst maintaining focus, so I selected just a part of the flower to cut down on the busyness of the shot. Does that work?

General question to anyone who visits - I notice that some people are able to post multiple shots on one day, I can only post one, is this something to do with the Ace membership?? Thanks, Anne

@365anne Yes Anne.. you get more albums and more information with ace

@365anne I like some things more and some less. It's certainly less busy and I like those strands in the top half of the flower. If I couldn't get in any closer I would it give it a tighter crop to focus attention on them and lose some of the empty space. I would want to keep some of the central part of the flower so as to give the impression of the petals rising from centre. The pink colour-cast muddies it a bit for me... the white in yesterday's shot gave it more clarity. You could do something about that with the right software. Or you could try a black and white conversion... it solves all colour issues and can make for a more dramatic image.... but I'm a b/w freak anyway so I would do that, wouldn't I?! No right or wrongs. Or you could try the shot again after checking the colour balance if your camera allows that.

@yrhenwr I will try the black and white, funnily enough I used the same background today as I did yesterday, so not sure why it looks a bit pinky. I dont have a processing programme so will have to look at how I could crop the image, may have to call on my son who is a professional photographer for some help there! Thanks for your comments and suggestions - all adds to the "push"

@365anne You can crop with Picmonkey, Anne, and make other adjustments. It's free to use on 365... or maybe it is part of ace membership, not sure

@yrhenwr It is part of the Ace membership, maybe I should just bite the bullet and join up

@365anne Yes. join us in the digital dark-room (but don't let it take control of you!) I'm going to spend a couple of hours in the chemical dark room this evening .. it will take me that long to produce just one usable print from a film negative. It's very therapeutic... and oh! that magical moment when the image slowly reveals itself on the paper in the developing tray..

that's so abstract--- could you put my name to it for my get pushed challenge please??????!!!!! You've really nailed it again!!

I like the abstract nature of this.
There are quite a number of on line processing sites, of which Picmonkey (www.picmonkey.com) is one. It is well worth taking some time to go and play around there.

@30pics4jackiesdiamond haha, yes you can borrow it! Thanks for commenting
@salza thanks for your comments and advice, I will have a play with some editing

Thank you for loan of this photo! I'e started using i.piccy.com and ribbet.com (recommended by vikki summerfield) which both have useful (easy to use) editing tools. I became ace member for pic.monkey editing but really couldn't cope with it!! I do like being able to upload more pictures I tend to do one album for my 365/month of words and the other for get-pushed or other themes/competitions.
