Red on red 2

This is actually red on red on red! Second try for my get pushed challenge this week. Couldnt get rid of all the reflections though......
@stephanies Second try, could not get rid of the reflections on this one! Thanks for your thoughts on yesterdays try.

Works well despite the reflections.

It looks nice with the reflections, it gives it more spacial context or something! I like the flowing stuff out of the top!

Did you use a Circular Polarizing Filter? (those can help a bit, though curved glass is a pain)

@sarahlth Thanks Sarah, I find the reflections annoying but glad it works ok for you!

@miseria thank you for your kind and encouraging comments. I dont have any technical stuff - filters etc, so this is SOOC, as are most of my shots! Maybe I should branch out and experiment a little.........

@365anne Circular Polarizing Filters are the only filter type I really use and are pretty cheap, a decent one is like $30 (I like Gobe but there are other nice not so expensive ones). They are great for basically anything involving reflections, such as water and glass and a really, really useful for trips to zoos, aquariums and museums (or cars or shiny clothing)! People also use them for shots of landscapes and other general use things, they're very usual!

They are very easy to use. There's 2 parts to one of these filters, when you screw it onto the end of your camera (I think yours uses a 62mm thread) you can then rotate the front element until it removes the parts of the reflections you don't like. You can see it working in the camera so it doesn't have any real guesswork!

The only "downsides" is that they don't always remove all reflections, just give you more control, though they don't help with things like mirrors. The other thing is that if you sue them with lenses with a rotating front element you may have to readjust the filter when it 's done rotating. They do slightly decrease the amount of light, but none of these things are really much of an issue! :D

@miseria Thank you so much! I will look at the filter and see if i can have a play. I appreciate the time you have given to offer me this advice.

This is really lovely way to have no other colours but red, even if it isn't quite red on red.
@miseria thanks for the tips on reflections. I have been trying to shoot a highly reflective stainless steel hot pot, and didn't even think about using a polarising filter. I have one that I'm sure will fit my macro lens so will give that a try.

I like this one Anne, glass is a real nightmare to photograph as it picks up reflections all over the place and often you need specialist lighting and/or a light box to get a really good glass shot. I got a reasonable red on red (without any filters) - https://365project.org/stephanies/year-2-2016-201/2017-03-20 I placed the peppers so they were to the right of my (wide open) patio door - you can see how the shadow falls away from the light. How about trying a red on red outside in the shade? I'm sorry it's turning out to be abit tricky for you.

@stephanies Please dont apologise Stephanie, I am happy playing with this idea and getting great advice too - what's not to like?! If the weather improves (it has poured with rain all day here) I will have a try at something outside tomorrow. I looked at your peppers - they are great.

I like the reflections - gives a bit of extra texture and interest. A really beautiful 'red on red' - very creative. Fav

I love this shot - and yes - it is obviously red on red. You must remember that there are so many shades of red along with the density of the colour, and different textures of the objects that you can see the contrasting reds easily.
I find that you need some contrast in order to give the shot some interest and depth.
It's A FAV!

I haven't tried it, but I wonder if spraying the glass with something like a very fine mist of wax furniture polish might do anything helpful?
