Brighton is one of the biggest centres for street art and graffiti in the UK. The art on the walls might not be to everyone’s taste but it does contribute to giving the city its unique feel. Groups and individuals are often invited to cover hoardings around town when construction work is underway - and there is even a Banksy near the station.
In the back streets of the New England Quarter, near Brighton station, the courtyards of sixties office blocks provide an uncurated canvas for graffiti artists, many of whom are famous in the world of street art. Walls, doors, garages, hoardings and the backs of shops have found themselves slowly being covered in colourful tags and murals.
I haven’t been brave enough to do the 100 strangers project but, when I came across a work in progress, I did ask if I could take a photo.
At some point this week I will go back and check out the finished article.
Disclaimer: No walls were harmed during the taking of this photo!
It seems when it's intentional and approved by the property owners, graffiti can sometimes become an art form. That's when I don't mind it. When it's just there to mark some gang's territory, that's when I don't like it. Good shot!

The “Kissing Policemen” is a life-size black-and-white graffiti work by Banksy. It was spray-painted on to the side of the Prince Albert pub in 2004 and became one of Banksy's most famous street works.
Sadly, the original was removed and flown to America after it was sold to an anonymous buyer in Miami in 2011 for £345,000.
It has been replaced with a replica encased in Perspex. I have taken a few shots but the reflective casing makes a "clean" shot difficult - but I will have another go :)

:D
I'm not even a native!
Thanks for all the feedback and comments. I did go back to see the finished article but couldn't get a shot. Unfortunately, in addition to an industrial size wheelie bin obstructing the view, there had also been unnecessary fly-tipping: an old fridge and rusty washing machine :(
There is a lot more striking street art in Brighton and I will definitely be posting more soon :)
