My guess it is one of the Lilly Pilly varieties, either a Syzygium or an Aechmena. There are hundreds of them so it is impossible to say which one. Aechmenas and Syzygiums are native to Australia and since you are in New Zealand, it would probably be one of the more common varieties - perhaps Aussie Southern which is a variety of Syzygium australe .
Syzygiums and Aechmenas were all called Eugenias once but they subsequently split the Eugenias up into separate species.
