Another of my favorite Lunenburg events is called "Paint Sea On Site". Over one weekend each summer, Plein Air artists create works throughout the area, and it's fun to come upon them and look over their shoulders. I always strike up interesting conversations and love to see the variety of mediums being used as well as each artist's vision. This woman was painting in water color on a tiny canvas. Not seen in this picture were the 7-8 other painters also being inspired by this scene. It certainly inspired me one foggy morning http://365project.org/Weezilou/365/2010-06-24 A friend just commissioned me to have it printed on a 20x30 canvas for his beach cottage. (I removed the motor boat on the right.) It arrived today and it's a bit overwhelming and very exciting to see it on that scale! Perhaps he'll let me photograph it in the room when it's put up.
Absolutely fabulous composition, Louise! I can certainly see why the artist chose this spot for her watercolor painting. I LOVE, love, love the foggy morning photograph!!! How exciting it must be to see that on a big canvas...I would love to see a photo of how it turned out!!
Louise, I love this on many levels. The scene is stunning and I so enjoy plein air painting. Congratulations on your commission. I'm thrilled it turned out well for you.
What a wonderful event to watch. This is a beautiful scene...and what a great honor to have your picture on canvas. I hope you can photograph it on the wall!!!
I love this kind of an event. We had one in Richmond and the first time I heard of this was in St. Mchael's, Maryland. I have such respect for these artists.
