With little practice taking night photos in the past, I thought this might be a good place to begin. Ken helped me by holding a flashlight, but I couldn't tell if my horizon was straight. You can believe me that I was happy to get one that I considered good enough to post... With the ocean waves rolling in just behind us, this was a beautiful place to to "look & listen". (Some young people came over to chat with us, wanting to know if we knew anything about "night diving"...we did not...but they stayed to look at the photos we were taking...a nice interactive moment :)
Well you have archived a lovely night sky image Louise , something I wish to try out myself , unfortunately the sky's around our world are usually brightly lit with the nearby towns and city's it's almost impossible to find a dark location. Around Easter we are heading out to the island of Anglesey in north Wales staying at a small cottages close to the sea , which I am hoping will give me the opportunity to try my hand at night sky's .. You did great
@steveh when 1/2 the year "my world" is the Los Angeles basin, I can forget even the possibility of "practice"! Yes, on your trip, tke a tripod & a flashlight of some sort so you can see what you're trying to set up. The f-stop and timing was a guessing game, but it came together pretty easily after a few tries. I'm looking forward to seeing the skies over your vacation home!
Beautiful! I remember the first time I went to Hawaii, I couldn't shut up about all the stars. Think of all the people living in cities who have never seen anything like this?
Great pic Louise, I can see Orion up there. I keep meaning to have a go at taking pics of the stars but never get around to it!! We have had some fantastic starry skies just recently, I must do it soon! I'm envious of your holiday in Hawaii!
