I look forward to this event each year for the photo opportunities and to meet the artists as they paint. This two-day event raises money for the Lunenburg Art Gallery by selling the work at "a take-away price" (set by the artist) or taking part in the auction at the end of the day. I hedged my bet & bought a piece I liked most, though it wasn't one of these. Clockwise from upper left:
... Sandi Komst from P.E.I. http://www.outofourmindsgallery.com/ (I owe her an apology; she has a great smile & shouldn't mind being photographed at all!)
... In Blue Rocks, this artist was painting the iconic fish shack. She said she'd had to miss the last few years & was glad to be back.
... One of the most colourful arrangement of buildings in town, this artist was taking a lunch break.
... Dennis Curran was a watercolourist who took the time to give me lots of information about shows in the region this summer http://www.denniscurran.com When I went to his site, I noticed he'd posted photos of his work today!
... I saw the possibility of getting the PSOS logo on the back of this artist's shirt, but it was from 2000...she said she'd been taking part for quite awhile!
... When I posted this photo I noticed how perfectly she'd matched the greens of the golf course across the harbour! The sailboat that came through was an unexpected treat for the photographers out on the pier!
@snowy Wow...thank you for the fav, Diana! and thank you all @aglennc@ethelperry , for letting me share the pleasure of this weekend! I get to do this again tomorrow as well!
Instant fav. You caught so many great shot of the artists and their work. I need to remember this when I go to the next art festival. Great idea and beautiful colors.
@cimes1 Thanks for the fav, Carole! Where the finished work is posted, they have a pin-map with the location of each painter, so we head out to see them...most seem happy to have some company and to make a connection with an interested party...it's lovely to see the variety of art that comes out those two days! |Enjoy your festival!
@digitalrn Are you a painter? well...that said, not everything is "fabulous" but good for everyone for making the attempt to raise funds for the art gallery. "I take part" by taking my photos...and shopping :) (It's pretty nice to have a home decorated in all original art by local artists...)
@kass The summer months here operate with an activity level akin to Disneyland...but all authentic, of course! I'll do some scouting as to what might be happening in September... I guess you've been warned that you'll be sucked in to this environment!
@kass meant to mention that Dennis http://www.denniscurran.com did a painting of the back of the Spinniker Inn and has it posted on his web site... Thought you'd enjoy seeing it...
Thank you for your commentary - most interesting and feel as though I have been there.
@aglennc @ethelperry , for letting me share the pleasure of this weekend! I get to do this again tomorrow as well!
