ONS at the Dory Shop ...

I so seldom post in B&W, I had to think awhile about what subject I could use and give up the colour. Let me add this to my happy days, as only yesterday I watched a youtube video about Lunenburg, and this iconic site was photographed from this angle, one I had never discovered!

So on Remembrance Day when red poppies and flags were all in evidence, I had to hunt out "dark texture" as I was loathe to give up "red" today!
Super shot!

Your texture and contrast is wonderful in B&W. And the lines with the softness of the water. Just fantastic composition!!

@nanderson @stownsend Thank you both so much! It was a challenge, but I really enjoyed testing myself!

love all those shimmery textures.

The b/w works well with the texture of the wood and siding.

b/w works well on this one. i quite often see how mine would look b/w, but like you i hate to give up the color.

You did great with the B&W.....I love this!! FAV!!
B&W is something I struggle with as I never feel that I get the tones and the textures quite right and to my liking! This is beautiful!
In answer to your other questions, yes, we leave from LAX on Sunday, and will be gone for almost three weeks! Two days travel, two to relax inTanzania, ten for safari, and then Zanzibar, and back home on Dec.5....so looking forward to seeing you again! I don't know how much I will be posting while on the trip....I am bringing a borrowed Surface Pro and an ipad, but I might just be in the moment out there and not bother with being online much. As for the other matter, yes, end of year, I need to move on... :-((

@panthora I have your email. I know where to find you... I will not let you get away... Were I in your shoes as you make this trip, I think I'd set aside that computer and soak up the days and the atmosphere and look at my pictures upon arriving home! It's a pretty big Once-in-a-Lifetime Event! (Are we now down to less than 50 days this year?!! It's dizzying!)

This is lovely. It shows off all the textures of wood, water and stone so well!

b and w shows up the wondeful textures.

Actually you would be surprised at what looks good in bw. Think a bw picture becomes about the subject and not the color. Neat shot.

This is a good choice for this scene. Every so often I choose B/W for the definition. Certain subjects really do so much better in B/W when you want to bring out the detail

You did a stellar job of B&W

The B+W fits the pic. very well. It gives it a nice old fashion atmosphere. Fav photo.
