We maxed out our luggage weight limits with a surplus of avocados and, for little Hazel, this one immense navel orange! She could hardly wait to enjoy it and dug in, rind first! After an easy explanation that the inside was better than the outside, she made this into her lunch! Nothing could have pleased me more than to see her enjoy this healthy treat!
o a fellow-traveller who also carries produce across state lines. I caused a big fuss once at an airport check point by having an entire carry-on bag full of fresh rhubarb. Delightful shot.
@francoise I LOVED your comment! Having come up here now for 15 years, I don't need many clothes, but know not to waste 100# apiece! One time as my carryon went through the scanner, the man looked up at me and said quizzically, "Tortillas???" Yep! (Can't get corn tortillas up here!) Can't bring the fresh fruit into Canada, but I come up with a lot of groceries! Your recipient of the fresh rhubarb must have been delighted! I'm cheering mine along in my garden here! The recipies are lined up and waiting!
@tunia Funny, isn't it that it doesn't take long to discover "down home favorites" that aren't available! I might go 6 months in California without eating them, but as soon as they're not available, I crave them! The upside is that I can now make a lovely Mexican meal for friends here, and it's something they might not be able to fix for themselves! (Thanks for chiming in on this conversation!)
