I promised to get some new images while I was "out" today, (out being the doctor's office). The wait was long, so as we were walking out, I told Ken I'd just like to go home.
And then I saw *The Bike"!
Of course Ken protested, saying he really thought I should get home, but he was overall, just toying with me! I got my pictures, and love that this wasn't just any bike, but a sea-foam green Huffy girl's style. Fabulous! (Mine was blue)
Yes, it would be a crime not to photograph this. Hope your Dr report was OK. Michael had another good report from Oncologist today, so off to a restaurant to celebrate.
Love it! There's a small town on the way to my daughters that has bikes of all colours scattered throughout. Each bile is freshly painted and decorated according to the seasons. It's a long drive, and that small town is the highlight. We count the bikes each time, and can never agree on how many there are!
What a beautiful coloured bike. I have never heard of a Huffy - mind you I didn't have a bike when I was young. I always wanted one but it was never to be. My sister had a Raleigh bike when she was about 13 and cycled to school on it. Sadly she sold it when she was 15 for a pair of pointed shoes. She has just told me this story. I never knew why I didn't get that bike after her and was always upset that I couldn't have a bike. Isn't it funny what memories you suddenly have and then you find out the truth!! LOL!! I am 5 years younger and we were never the best of friends with that age difference. How times change!! LOL!!
@pamknowler Amazing! I absolutely love this about this photo site and how it elicits not only our own memories, but propels the sharing of stories! One person's memories will never be the same as another's, so it's fum to hear of the variety! That's the stuff of a good book!
@elkereturns Love the story, Elke! Are the bikes owned by people and it's a community project, or are they street art as "The Chicago Cows" were (and so many varieties world-wide since then!)? AnnieD in Australia posted photos of a little town that's been covered with murals, and it's now a tourist destination because of it! I love artistic minds and what people are capable of!
@ethelperry Oh so happy to read this, Ethel! My best to Michael for continued success! My visit was to attend to my shoulder that I fell on after Christmas. He assessed a full rotator-cuff tear, but in the hope of warding off surgery in the future, he did an injection in the joint area and I'll be having a second site of PT for just the shoulder! Mustn't complain (and I'm not!) but you can guess how I'll be spending my time at home in California! ♥ to you both!
@allie912 As you might assume (correctly!) I was fully drawn to that beautiful color, and so lovely set there next to those broad dark leaves!
@quietpurplehaze@jamibann@laurieewilson I feel you responded to this as I did, loving both the colour and the childhood memories! A rare sighting around here in Orange County where bikes are seldom used for daily "getting around". (Issi, I do believe I've read you're a bike rider, and I'm sure it's more common over there.)
You do find the most interesting "different" photo ops. This is definitely out of our past. Forget what color mine was...... Hope your doctor visit ended on a positive note.... I'm headed to my doctor in an hour.
@aglennc Thanks, Anita, and best to you in that regard! Quite happy with my new orthopedist for my shoulder...had an injection (had one in the past & it was working fine until I fell on the shoulder again!) and he wants me to start PT, but for that, I have to have clearance after the operation. As an 89 y-o friend put it, past a certain age, it's patch patch, patch!
@Weezilou Yes your friend is right! And PT,, more PT and more PT. I had just finished my series for the shoulder replacement (so glad I had that replacement!) then started for a "pulled hamstring muscle" - misdiagnosed after six weeks of PT did nothing. To doctor today to get prescription for more PT, this time for sciatic (sp.) and/or pinched nerve for what has been rediagnosed......
@Weezilou not sure. The first year we saw them, we counted twelve. Last time, there were over twenty. Kind of lost its charm with that many. It's certainly not a tourist destination - more of a widening in the highway.
