What's a vacation without mailing postcards back home? I was hoping for a pictorial postmark, this being Canada's 150th birthday, but no such luck up here!
Postcards are a wonderful tradition. My wife has an old friend who collects them from bygone days. Maybe someday, people will collect these postcards. Tell Ken I said hello and "Nice picture."
It amused me when the lady in the Post Office said the cards would take at least two weeks to get to the UK!! Of course they have to get them off the island first!! Such fun being in Trinity and this last morning walking round taking our last few shots you can see how the wind was blowing!! What must it be like in winter? They have such a short summer season with visitors winter must seem like forever!!
Love seeing this photo of the two of you. I've been following your great trip and the memories of our time in Newfoundland have been revived because of your photos and narratives. And two weeks getting to the UK might not happen if the Canadian Postal System goes on one of their frequent "strikes"..... My family lives in Alberta, and I can't tell you how often they complain about their "system" being down because of a strike.
At first : A great, very nice shot , of the two of you . Wish I could hear the joke you`re laughing at.
I Still have some pic. postcards from my birth neighbourhood back in the 1950 th.
They cost now a lot more as they are payed for those day`s.
You two are having a ball aren't you? Speaking of postcards. A friend who went to South America send us a card from Quito, it arrived here a month after she got home. Must've used pigeon post.
