For most of my life I've felt I was born out of my era. Buying this Nova Scotia home, built in 1888, has brought back the charm of visiting my grandmother's old house in rural Illinois. I've added many touches of period furniture and artifacts that I find satisfying, so when I set down the lilacs, I was drawn back in time to my grandmother's again. Perhaps Ashton is making memories and will someday remember his grandmother in this way, too.
How lovely Louise! I love a nostalgic feel too. This is beautifully composed and in doing this you are creating memories for the next generations. Fave for me!
@cherrill So glad to share; thanks! Have you watched the movie, Midnight in Paris? Ken and I just loved it, and I loved the nostalgia in it...and the wonderful music!
Aw, I love this, Louise! Very arty, as I have come to expect from you. I love how your photography reveals little parts of who you are. I often think I was born out of my era as well. And I am a big fan of rural Illinois, of course!
Very tasteful Louise, and how fitting to have an old camera in the photo. Perfect! That's what I love about living in my Granparent's home for as long as we did, it feels like time has stood still when it comes to the memories. Time is coming though, really soon when we will be leaving the old homestead behind. It will be tough, but societal changes has driven home the need for a change. Grandma & Grandpa don't feel comfortable here anymore. I like this little glimpse of your world, and I'm sure Ashton will grow up having some fond memories.
