I've been waiting with great anticipation to see this movie, and it certainly didn't disappoint! Ken & I went with friends & out to a late dinner afterward, and we talked at length about what we'd seen. It certainly opens the floodgates within the art community and among photographers! (Don't laugh...I'll share this about how much it obviously moved me... I dreamed that I packed the Argaflex my grandmother left me as I'm going to Chicago next week, and I was planning photo shoots with it... I know this community did photos a year ago based on Maier's work...I'm just late to the game!)
Of course I had my camera with me last night, so I grabbed a couple photos, in the hope of catching something I could share with you. The film's title is inset into the theater photo (I just held the camera against me as I didn't want the back light to disturb anyone...)
The following is the link to the trailer as well as to where this movie will be opening in the US and Canada over the next several weeks.
@allie912 Go through all the film screenings (80 of them) on my link...I didn't see VA, but is anything else somewhat close by? We are so lucky to have a theater nearby that shows "art films".
We do have a great theater nearby showing offbeat films Recently saw Tim's Vermeer there and plan to see The Lunchbox tomorrow. I have hopes that it will also show this one.
@allie912 The last time we "talked movies", you thought you'd missed seeing Tim's Vermeer...wasn't it amazing?! I'm in high hopes for you that you'll this about VM as well...the images are absolutely riveting!
@digitalrn As a photographer, it would be one I feel you wouldn't mind watching several times. I wanted to take some photos when her photographs were on the screen, but they were so compelling, I couldn't take my eyes off of them!
