It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas ...

This is a small part of how Ken and I spent the day! We'd cut down 4 trees (not too big) that we decorated, plus the evergreens out in front of the house. In the evening Ken did all the slicing and dicing and I began making some of the side-dish preparation. We feel very organized and love the way everything is coming together!

(I love the way Canadians have Thanksgiving behind them, and Christmas is well underway! Since we're still having a Thanksgiving dinner, the decorations will be a melding for the first time in my life!)
love this gorgeous little tree .... fav

So you will have 2 Christmas celebrations? Do you have decorations in both locations?

@allie912 I didn't have decorations here until this past weekend! Let's just say that after years of collecting *really nice ornament$*, I was pleasantly surprised with what could be pulled together from the Dollar Store and Wal-Mart! A friend did bring me a large tub of fancy ornaments & I used them on the tree upstairs, so altogether, we did it on a shoestring (and I love the results!) (Back in CA I plan to let the kids decorate a tree for us! Should prove interesting!)(

Love all the glowing bits - gold and glow and expectation. Lots to look forward to.

Start of the festive preparations.

Let it all begin ... too early for me though! I'm a 'week before Christmas' girl! I like to wait for the kids to come home and we all do it together. :-)

Christmas is definitely popping up everywhere now :)

@jamibann Hi Issi! In the States, we never decorate this early, but it's happening up here & we're preparing for a Thanksgiving party. When we get to California on the 16th, we'll let the grandkids decorate the tree and celebrate Christmas with that family.

Last Sunday I took some pic.`s in a shop in Antwerp Belgium they sell Christmas decorations whole year round

So lovely! Reminds me of the trees we had when I was a child ( a million years ago!) They always stood on a table.

FAV! How beautiful is this and I love the little "glimpse" of the tree through the doorway...just lovely!

@pyrrhula Thanks Ferry! I love that5 you have a tradition of waiting for Santa to arrive to greet the children and then Christmas is underway! It's much the same in Hawaii (!) Santa arrives in a canoe and greets the children...then Christmas can begin! I know of several (year round) Christmas stores, from California to right here in Lunenburg!

@scarybird @timandelke @merteskid Thank you all! Steve, being here for only 2 more weeks, but throwing a party, I needed to decorate as inexpensively as possible. I think you're right about minimalist...it worked in this case (and we cut down our own tree-s- as well! Thanks) Elke, I've always loved "Victorian trees" that were set on tables. I've never had the opportunity to do this and I'm delighted with them. I'm considering to whom I'll pass them when we leave... Jo, thanks so much! I, too, saw this and thought I"d like it better than the full-on photo... Does it sound odd to say it reminds me of an Edwardian lady dressing for dinner, seen as you pass the room, low lights and strands of "pearls"!

@Weezilou Sinterklaas is not a same person as Santa Claus. It is a Historical Catholic bishop from Turkey that did good for the poor and children.
In our tradition he comes with a steamboat from Spain with his (Historical) black helpers named `` Zwarte Piet `` (as he free black slaves and offer them a job.) He has the names and behaving of all children wrote in a book and all good children gets a present delivered by the black Piets trough the chimney. So the children put there shoes near the fire place with some carrots and hay for the horse of Sinterklaas hoping on a present. Sinterklaas do ride a grey horse that can walk on the roofs We celebrate his birthday then .
To day there is a big debate of Black is correct and discriminated.
