Last fall when I had more photos than I could possibly ever use, I told myself that some slow winter day I'd return and spend some play time with them. Today's the day. I recall waiting for a blue jay to land on this ancient apple tree trunk and was so pleased to have captured his image. With some severe processing, I think this looks like a childrens' book illustration...probably from *my* childhood, all those many years ago.
Did you try a soft glow focus, like Orton or something similar? This often enhances a storybook effect combined with a very slight watercolor filter. Its charming just as it is too :)

@teiko Emilie, thanks for the suggestion! I'll give it a try in Picmonkey! So many fun choices, and I stop as soon as I have something I like, but there's SO MUCH more we could go with! And I do love playing!
