Meet Javier and Anthony. They had a table at the extensive and excellent craft fair we went to this morning! For the most part I had a look at everything before launching into picking my favorites and shopping. I found gifts for some friends, did some personal shopping at my daughter's request, and, at the end, returned to this spot for the best purchases of the morning. These two potters specialize in raku, and both the shapes of their pieces and the finish work was gorgeous. Most of their work had a lava effect at the edges and rims...different from anything I'd seen. We bought a vase which is a beautiful display piece, and coasters. I got the latter because they're so lovely, I can have one always nearby to enjoy looking at it! I asked the men if I could take their photo after they'd wrapped my items... We certainly made each other happy!
I have enjoyed watching my sister make Raku pots - very small ones. I am over awed at the size of some of these. I would just so love to go to a genuine hand made market of this calibre.
