Guess Where We Went Today ...

Ashley had some birthday present suggestions that we might get for Dylan, so, for only the second time in absolute years, we went to Ikea. If you've never been in one, it's a masterpiece in marketing and merchandising! You're immediately funneled to the second floor and follow a serpentine path around a 7 acre (Ken did the math) walk past every item! That left wide open the possibility we'd buy more than we came for! At the farthest possible end, we found the items we'd come for, though an art easel had to be picked up on the lower floor. Down we walked and once more traversed 7 more acres before coming to a warehouse and picked up the easel there. Of course, just past the checkout, is a restaurant and grocery with "exotic" Swedish foods. Hungry & thirsty, Ken pondered-and-passed on a soft serve ice cream, but a box of crispy cookies with a chocolate filling jumped into my arms. Besides eating them with coffee or tea, it was suggested they'd pair nicely with wine and blue cheese.

In the name of culinary experimentation, I'll check it out and get back to you ...
Love the colours and are the flags reflections? If they are, you got a nice shot of them, very clear.

Love the meatballs!!

@flygirl Funny, yes, I saw the flags, but liked the reflection better. It wasn't until I looked at this on the screen I realize the California flag is right-reading... Might have to go back and see how it was that that happened!

I like the colors

WOW! Your IKEA looks different than our IKEAs! I like yours better. *pout*
April 9th, 2015
That looks so different than the IKEA stores we have here
April 9th, 2015
@voiceprintz @bkbinthecity Who knew?! I thought it was a pretty generic store! @bkbinthecity Glad to hear they're in Canada! The prices are so reasonable, and I saw a few things I'd like to have in Nova Scotia!
@voiceprintz You can stop pouting now ... (I may be in a Ikea-free zone in the Maritimes!)
April 9th, 2015
@Weezilou bah...they're web-based, too. http://www.ikea.com/ you can shop ahead, order from the Maritimes and have stuff delivered. I'll continue to pout, thank you very much! ;)

Very colorful shot!

What a cool Ikea...not quite that much structure on ours. Great shot with the colour and the flags!

Great capture.

Okay Louise, now I have this uncontrollable urge to go to Ikea! I haven't been in one of those in years. If I end up going there tomorrow they should pay you! Good shot by the way!
April 9th, 2015
fabulous colors and lines
April 9th, 2015
@thirdjoe LOL! I thought about that as I was walking through the store! I knew I'd want to tell everyone about it and wondered who I'd send out in that direction! The one here is SO BIG, I said to Ken we could just go there to do our morning walks! So funny... Thanks for the kudos.

Will we see you on Sunday? Did you get the email? Brunch? Let me know!
April 9th, 2015
I have only seen them on here. This view is different then the ones I have seen.
April 9th, 2015
It all sounds quite interesting and exciting. I do hope your experimenting went well
April 9th, 2015
We have one here in Melbourne too :)
April 9th, 2015
i'm no shopper but might go for pictures.

The first time I went to IKEA was in Atlanta. With the enormous amount of people, I thought we were at Disney World! What an experience. We have one near us now, but my husband only goes when forced. It is at least a half-day experience. I notice that when you are leaving, they have those amazing cinnamon rolls, too! So far, I have resisted!

Have been there twice. Once out of curiosity and once to buy furniture for our son. Those are very large buildings and very crowded . To tell the truth, I only like the Swedish meatballs.
April 9th, 2015
Neat shot! I would have never guessed it was Ikea. I do have to admit we are quite the Ikea fans, we own several things from there and enjoy shopping there together. I know, a guy liking shopping, well he does there. :) They used to have great cinnamon buns not prepackaged made right there to eat,
April 9th, 2015
@dailypix Hi Susan! Yep, while Ken's not much into shopping, we *really* enjoyed our time there yesterday, and already plan to return for some items we saw! We even lamented not knowing more about this place in the past as they carried items we looked long-and-hard for! I'm already preparing the shopping list for when we return to Lunenburg! Might have to be shipped, but they seem to be everywhere! Fun!
April 9th, 2015
@pyrrhula @dailypix @danette @kiwisnapper Meatballs and their Cinnamon Buns seem to be 365 favorites! On your next trip, check out the pink-boxed cookies, with the cellophane cover: "Kakor Cholkadflarn" "Crunchy Chocolate Cookie"...I'm sure that's what it means! ;-)

DELICIOUS!
April 9th, 2015
@Weezilou It is fun, and we seem to always have a list too. Thanks for the cookie tip that will definitely be added next time we are there. It fact next time we are in Calgary to see Michael's brother its a perfect excuse to stop there. :)
April 9th, 2015
Colourful and fun:)
April 9th, 2015
OMG, they're everywhere aren't they.
April 10th, 2015
@Weezilou I think they are sweet. The Swedish even eat shop/cutlets with jam/marmalade on it.
April 10th, 2015
@pyrrhula We haven't had their meatballs, but perhaps when we return. A free lunch comes with a purchase of $100! I have to say that I make meatballs in a chafing dish for a Pot-luck supper, and it had a sweet jelly glaze. And I love them! II gather then, that a proper Dutchman wouldn't mix meat and sweet jelly?
April 11th, 2015
Colors and flags are so doing it for me! The narrative makes it a Fav. Thanks!
April 11th, 2015
@kiwisnapper @pyrrhula Amazing even ourselves, we went back to Ikea today to buy an area rug (and a few other things) we'd seen while buying birthday presents! They had a special...eat lunch and it would be completely discounted off a $100 purchase! We were amazed! (Had I thought it through, I might have eaten more!) I did however, on your recommendation, have the meatballs and they were delicious (even with the berry sauce, Ferry!) Had gravlax and a dessert as well, as did Ken... Nice deal! And it's really you, Ashley, who convinced me to try the meatballs! Thanks!
April 12th, 2015
Welcome! You're lucky - we have to go to a different country to get them! No Ikeas in New Zealand......
Pleased you enjoyed them.
April 12th, 2015
Wow, what a beautiful architecture shot! And you know that Swedish flag caught my eye immediately. ;-) Great capture, Louise.
April 13th, 2015
@Weezilou Glad you did like it. I even do n`t dare to try it . Plane meatballs will do.
