It didn't take many minutes of watching our neighbor Al making music with SIL/"Daddy" http://365project.org/Weezilou/365/2015-12-31 that the boys wanted some instruments so they could play along. Having received a nice boxed assortment for Christmas, Ashton chose to play the kazoo and Dylan, his xylophone. Yes, I recorded a little video as well... IF they become musicians someday, I want to be sure I can show their early roots. (With their dad orchestrating the music department at school, they've attended a lot of his concerts, so this is old hat already!)
what fun. Music is so important for children and who know where it will take them' even if they dont become professional musicians it will give them such pleasure whether playing or listening. Lovely famil scene
It's great to see them enjoying music so much. We have been watching and listening to Andre Rieu concerts where it's wonderful to see young children enjoying the concerts.
@allie912 Twice (before they started the family) J&A made two 3-month trips around the world, studying the music in each region where they went and taking home recordings of local gatherings. With that, John built a school program in Chicago called "Rhythm around the World" and typically had one or two other musicians join him PLUS a van full of djembe drums and instruments for the kids to use. (Looked like A LOT of physical labor to me!) He truly loves both music and teaching, so anyone in his circle benefits. Your son sounds much the same, and lucky the families who had a musical life! @cruiser Chris, thanks, and you're absolutely correct! @ceilidh Happy New Year, Margaret! I hope 2016 is going to be a good one for you and your dear daughter! I'm sure you feel that it can't get underway soon enough! I will check out Andre Rieu; I love picking up on what friends suggest! Thank you!
What a fabulous way to spend the evening. My mum used to play the piano and when the family got together when I was young we all had a sing song round the piano.
@kwind It WAS a terrific evening, Kim! What fun it was to entertain the boys in this old-fashioned way! @pamknowler Both my parents played piano & a baby grand and organ filled our dining room! I remember some wonderful sing alongs at Christmas and still, a best friend from childhood and I still look for gifts that express (or play) "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" in some fashion! There's no place for today's technology in this setting!
You can't start kids too early with their music. This looks like a fun way to get them involved. They don't even realize they are being in a learning mode.......
