Caroline @kerosene commented on the "fuzzy" sunflowers, and I was writing to her about the adorable young girls who were selling their flowers each week. I see youngsters up here in Nova Scotia raised with strong family values and a shared work ethic with their parents. Instead of spending the summer in front of the television, they've raised flowers that they're now selling alongside the table with their parent's farm produce. I described them to Caroline as looking like young fawns and we old folks flock to them for our flowers and some photos!
I thought I'd take some pictures of them at the Market in the morning, but I see I already have some!
I love this so much Louise!!! What charming fawns :) and that's an amazing way to spend the summer. They will remember summers fondly when they're adults... Just beautiful!!!
@kerosene WHat you said about remembering summers brings back my own recollection of the summer of '54 when I planted my first flowers...zinnias...as these girls did as well! I recall my mother telling me they were one of the easiest flowers to grow... So see, you're correct...we don't forget moments like that! And thanks for the love :)
It's good to see young people growing up with a knowledge of nature and growing things. I also remember lots of 'flower' memories from my childhood, especially with my mum and grandma. :-)
