This would have been far worse if other cars were involved, but we sat in stop and go traffic for a half hour to pass this point where a jack-knifed big rig was blocking 4 lanes of traffic. Here's one reason being out on the freeways is no fun. We live 80 minutes from the San DIego border, and while driving home, we saw no fewer than 3 accidents!
You wouldn't believe how fast some cars speed by!
If you want to read about one more of the accidents we saw, this is the scenario we're guessing...
Within a beach town's city limits...
Not heavily traveled street...
A car has jumped the center medium and, in the on-coming street, has come to rest upon a large bolder that decorated the medium...
Inside, a *young* woman...
We're guessing she might have been texting...
Next message to parents: "Dad...about your car..."
@annied They're aggressive here as well, but this one ruined the front of this truck, He'll get a talking to, to be sure! I can't imagine how the drives felt as they were close by when then happened! Good Lord!
So scary to see accidents! There really are a lot of bad drivers out there! You have to drive anticipating that they will do something stupid! Especially in town where it seems manners have now disappeared! Grrr! You have got me going now Louise!
i think that most accidents these days are a combination of poor driving skills, ill manners and texting. unfortunately i don't think that would soon change. ill manner is a psychological issue that should be under medical issues, texting is an addiction, that's medical issue as well, and poor driving skills, well, it's poor driving skills, must circle back to psychological issues. i suppose we just need to be extra careful and have good insurance. or ban texting and mobile game playing.
Oh wow, that sure is one big obstacle to traffic flow. I often call busy roads Russian Roulette especially since mobile phones became common. Unless you've got a hands-free kit it's illegal to use a mobile while driving. But you see people flouting that all the time nevertheless.
And this is why I rarely ride the bike for everyday commuting around town. Too many crazy people, incompetent people, and distracted people. Courtesy among drivers no longer exists. Throw in a little rain, and it's really on.
