We stepped into one church on our walk around Tenerife, and we were struck by the ornamentation and gilding! One's eye hardly knows where to land! Of course I took a lot of photos to pour over at a later time, but was drawn, in several locations here to the beautiful anthurium bouquets. To my eye, they lent a natural softness.
We stopped afterward, across the plaza, for tapas and sangria... Such a perfect visit! Last time we were here, the day ended in pouring rain and we had to walk a long ways back to the ship. Not so this time...
@pamknowler The sides of the church, back to front, were lined with "smaller alters". This was one of the smaller ones to the left of the main alter, and this is just the lower left corner!
A bit to much golden decoration ? At least in +/- 1550 in Europe. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beeldenstorm
For this many our our churches have no decorations and are painted white.
