After a photo update of the babies progress, I again sat nearby hoping for a photo of Mom on the nest. When she came around, again she swooped around me before settling on this palm branch in the yard behind us. Afraid that I'd scare her off, I rotated slowly in my chair, and dodging other foliage, tried to get pictures of her. This, the first (and SOOC) is my favorite, though I got closeups. She made me turn my back on the nest and drew the attention to her self. It was such a wonder of Nature, that I once again walked away so she had the satisfaction of a job well done. I'm finding a world of wonder right in my own back yard!
PS...Ken saw the raccoon's out back tonight, but they were fighting and ran off before I could get downstairs to see them. All I saw was a possum scurrying away on the far side of the pool and one of our cats up the tree and crying to be rescued! I suggested to Ken that we get a baby monitor so we'll hear them in the night, but he just raised an eyebrow at me... (I'll pursue this further...)
Absolutely wonderful Louise! Love this. Hummingbirds are still on my bucket list. I only see them at my mom's place in the summer but never near me when I have the camera!
What a photo you've taken there. I love it! :D
