Spent a couple of hours with clear skies trying to get a picture of the Jupiter-Moon conjunction. It was quite clear to the naked eye. Played with ISO's, f-stops, and shutter speeds. The moon is such a challenge. Thought I had a fairly decent photo, but Jupiter seems to have faded away in the upload. Oh! There it is! See that tiny dot to the left? It's a bit more noticeable if you go large. Oh well. Gave it a good try.
@chrysalis I'm glad you have sharp eyes. I was just toying with the idea of going out with a different lens and trying again. I have trouble knowing when to stop.
It's great! I tried to take a pic of it tonight too, but just couldn't get a good one. I think I need a zoom lens of some sort. Great clarity in the moon and yep! There's Jupiter! Great shot!
Great shot! I found a thread on here from who knows how long ago with some tips on taking moon pictures. One of the best tips that I read was that you need a faster shutter speed than you would think because even though it's night, you're still shooting sunlight. I don't know which thread it was now, but if you search, there are several old discussions on here. Here is the shot I did: http://365project.org/istacy1011/365/2012-12-19
@istacy1011 That's a really great photo! Full moon tomorrow. I considered pulling out my telescope and taking a moon photo, but maybe I'll try your settings first. Thank you.
